Seeking to be Satisfied I received Christ at an early age and grew up in a Christian home. However, I must say that my knowledge and experience of Him was very limited, and consequently, I went through a number of years as a young person where I was trying desperately to be satisfied by many other things. Eventually, through the Lord’s mercy and the prayers of my parents and others I had a strong turn to Christ at the age of 24. I surrendered to Him and told Him that I did not want to fight against Him anymore. This was a pivotal point in my life. Soon after turning to the Lord I began to attend college classes full time. I enjoyed fellowship with other believers on campus and reading the Bible. I began to realize that I needed those times of fellowship and prayer in order to strengthen my faith and to ground me in the Word of God. As an older student with a family and a difficult degree program, I found that the demands on my time became increasingly challenging. My involvement with the group Christians on Campus became a spiritual lifeline during those last few years. The Bible studies, college meetings, and appointments on campus were like spiritual “oasis” in a desert. I am deeply grateful to all the brothers and sisters in Christ who stood with me through that time in prayer, fellowship, and the study of the Word. These brothers and sisters became patterns to me in word and in deed. I thank the Lord for them. Christians on Campus helped make my college years profitable both spiritually and humanly. They showed me that nothing can really satisfy a man except Jesus Christ and a life that is full of His grace. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!” Psalm 34:8 --Kevin C. |
